Profile

Katuhiro Maki received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Hosei University in 1995, the M.S. degree in Information Science from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2000. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Doshisha University from 2000 to 2002. He worked at NTT Communication Science Laboratories, first as a research associate and later as a research specialist, from 2002 to 2010. He was an expert researcher at the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology from 2010 to 2011. He joined Aichi Syukutoku University in 2011.

His general research interests are in acoustical science and technology. In particular, he is interested in computer modeling of the auditory system, auditory neurophysiology, musical acoustics, and 3D audio. He received the Awaya prize young researcher award from the acoustical society of Japan (ASJ) in 2004, and the Sato prize paper award from the ASJ in 2006 and 2011.
